Asus or Msi??

Nforce is the way to go. Since Asus doesnt make a non-sli nforce4 board, you should look at the DFI board.

If looking for a SLI mobo, I'd consider the MSI or DFI. <A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2358" target="_new">Anand</A> does a nice review on them and gives them a Tie for Gold, with the Asus and Gigabyte far behind.

MSI has the better feature set and OC's very well. DFI is lacking some on features and feature performance, but offers some amazing bios tweak for extreme overclockers. Personally if I was going S939 PCI-e right now, I'd buy the MSI K8N Neo 4/SLI reguardless of going with a NV or ATI card. I like the feature set, near top notch OC'in, and really don't have a need for the extreme cpu/memory voltages like the DFI offers as my overclocking would be air cooled, or fairly inexpensive water cooling, nothing crazy. Anyway, it would definately be one of those two mobos, not the Asus.

what do you mean by a small server?

the only experience i had with msi was a bad one
asus is very reliable and solid if not a bit pricey
as far as case and supply it would depend on what your mb required, anotherwords what pins but for the most part there are converters for that- just check the manufactures web sites for specs. as far as cases go antec is very inexpensive and reliable some cases even come with very good power supplies usually go for about $120-130

I wouldnt recommend the TT 680W for just anyone, im sure that it would be overkill in most situations. Having said that, I would definetly say that out of all the components that make up my system that my TT 680W is the best performace/price component that I have ever owned. Its actually cheaper per Watt than most of the competition, but again it isnt the PSU that I would recommend for most people. Fortron is solid.

I would think most of the major PSU mfrs give their PSUs a little buffer in ratings. Slvr_phoenix's company has had some issues with FSP PSU reliability, but that's the only negative that I've heard about FSP. Apparently they've had issues with some PSUs not lasting more than a year or two.

Slvr: If you're reading can you comment some more and tell us what FSP has done to correct these issues. What type of interaction has there been between the companies since your company reported the reliability issues to FSP? Was it a bad batch of PSUs? Obviously you won't be officially speaking on behalf of your company, but we're all interested in some more details...
