hi
i am soon going to build a system and i will be using it for graphic designing (photoshop, coreldraw etc)
and the components i found out to best suit my interest are as follow
cpu 2.6 Ghz with hyper threading
intel 865 PERL mobo
DDR 333 or DDR 400Dual 1Gig atleast
Radeon 9700 Pro or Geforce compared to that radeon
HD 80GB with 8MB buffer
Here where in live only 2.6 HT is the fastest cpu availabe and also no AMD is be found
as for mobo i only use intel mobo cause of its stability and durability
ram is one thing that is confusing me cause there are many different kinds of ram available here and dont really know which one is going to best suit me and my cpu
as for the gfx card i dont need it for the latest 3d games only thing i will be using it for will be graphic designing (photoshop, coraldraw etc)so if you have any alternatives here plz do tell me also i heard that a good 2d card will suffice like a matrox G550 or perhelia
one last thing I never do O/C so plz keep that in mind =)
thx

You can get the Radeon 9700 Pro pretty cheap these days and it is still more than sufficient for current games. Dont bother with the geforce fx models for they have filtering problems.

If you having problems getting AMD mobos then I would suggest www.pricewatch.com for a selection of them. Who care if you have to wait a week to get it since the prices will be worth it. If you do get AMD board, get one with the nforce2 chipset. Also dont bother with the AMD64 systems for they will be a waste of your money.

Barton 2500+ @ 2200mhz (10x220 vcore @ 1.8)
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(420/720)

Yes definitely order off the internet. Some retailers will rip you off. For ex. I saw yesterday that compusa charges 180 for a 120 dollar processor. Also one that was going for 60 bucks on the net was 110 at compusa.

You can buy Abit IS7 for less than $100. Very Stable great Mobo.
