Hi,

I have a Pioneer CLD-D515 LD Player that has been working just fine since 1997! However the last time I used it was a few months ago and again it worked just fine with no errors.

However I recently went to switch the play on and it remains in standby and I can here a clicking sound. I removed the cover and the clicking sound is from the optical pickup which appears to be vibrating as if trying to move but unable to.

Can anyone let me know how serious this problem is and whether it can be easily fixed?

I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Kind Regards,
Fozzit

the clicking sound is the laser trying to focus. The lasers go bad, and there is no replacement parts.
Unless it needs belts, cleaning lubing, and a few of the component parts can be replaced, but no laser replacement parts available.

If it is any consellation i have some CLD-515 spares. It houses the same slider / laser assembly as the CLD 925. The only part missing is the drive belt (veb1184). Easy to replace the unit.
