Deleted files over LAN not going to recycle bin

I have three computers networked together; two running XP Pro, and one
running ME. If I am accessing the files on one machine from another,
using explorer, and delete one or more, they don't go into the recycle
bin on the machine they were deleted from, or the recycle bin on the
machine I am working on. They just dissappear, as if I had pressed
"SHIFT-DELETE", but with no confirmation dialog before the permanent
delete. This has caused the loss of some important files.

Is there any way to configure things so the deleted files go into the
recycle bin, or at least require confirmation before deleting?

Have a look at settings for recycle bin :- Right click Bin and select prop.
Is there a tick in box ( do not move files to recycle bin, remove files
immediately ) Then remove tick.
Make sure there is a tick in box ( Display delete confirmation dialog ).
Check settings for other machines.

Yes, the recycle bins on all of the machines are set to move files to
recycle, and not remove files immediately, and this is what happens if
you delete a file on the machine you are working on. It only wipes-out
files, without confirmation, when you delete files on other machines on
the network. That is, if I am on machine a, and I open an explorer
window of a shared folder that is on machine b, anything I delete on
machine b is gone forever, with no confirmation required.

I thought of limiting the permissions to read-only, but I frequently
need to be able to write and delete files over the network. I just
want a "safety net", in case I delete the wrong files by mistake.
