Hello,
I have a Toshiba Netbook M500 when I turn it on I get the Toshiba slash screen then "operating system not found". I turned if off and restarted holding shift and 0, the system recovery came up and then said it was installing files, now it does not seem to be doing anything screen is blank, this is new at Christmas, I don't want to pay 25.00 to send this back to Toshiba if its something I can resolve on my own. Any ideas

Try re-seating the hard-drive. Also go into the BIOS and make sure that the drive is seen, and is listed in teh boot order. Your drive may have died if the BIOS info looks OK. They want to charge you for $25 for a in-warranty laptop? Check the warranty card and details to make sure that's in there.
