In cpu power yes, if you aren't playing games or doing much more than just general use (internet, mail, word) then you probably won't notice the difference. If you are looking at an HTPC then the llano chip has a better igp.

Hello,
first of all 3420 is not A4 it's an A6-3420. A4-3420 is a desktop CPU, judging how you're in the mobile section of the forum you probably want to compare apples to apples.

lets take a base i5-2430. Compared to AMD A4-3330 and A6-3420

AMD A4-3330MX vs Intel Core i5-2430M (PGA)

AMD A6-3420M vs Intel Core i5-2430M

i5 compared to A4, is about twice as good. Compared to A6, about 30% faster.

you want us to compare a racecar to a street car you say? Oh, well a race car is much faster and uses more power then a street car.

the i5 is much faster.

If you want to take a comparison, look at the sub $200 CPUs.

IMO dollar for dollar, the i5 will be the even better choice especially for gaming.
