Does anyone know if the MS will be releasing a last patch
for this product - and I do understand that this product
is EOL? It would be a small effort on their part to fix
remaining bugs and then let it go. According to this
forum they will make a lot of people happy.

Any new information about status of the last patch,
please post it here

I think it is most UNlikely. Yes, MS discontinued the products some
time back.

What needs to be fixed?

I will give you one bug for now:
1) DMZ - A big security issue - that you should know
about. Why don't you try to disable it.

I responded in general to the question of whether or not a patch would
be released -

Barb,

In general you asked about issues with MN-700 like there
no issues exist for this product. If majority of user
didn't find any specific problems, that doesn't mean that
there no problems at all. I have a list of at least 5 so
far with WPA,DMZ and Port Forwarding. I am sure that MS
R&D team a well aware of the outstanding issues with this
product and I think MS management should let them address
those issues before getting out of this business.

MS should show to all of us, that they do care about
their customers! Otherwise, they should just post a
source code so someone else can address it.

Leon, I'm obviously not Barb, but the problem with expecting updates to this
discontinued hardware is that the team which created it has been disbanded.
They no longer exist at Microsoft, and have either moved off into other
projects or even other companies. As far as anyone has indicated, the
updates for the products available on the download website are it. Period.

I never said that thee were no issues. We (MVPs, we do not work for MS)
cannot do any more than we are already doing. At one point MS had a team of
programmers and product managers dedicated to these products. They are
already OUT of this business and have been out for quite some time. MS has
separate teams that work on separate products. I imagine that the team
members have moved on to other depts or may have even left the company.
There is no one that even WE can contact.

Bottom line, the only recourse you have is to call the MS support and get a
SR# and then keep escalating.

Barb & Chris,

I do understand that you don't have any power to make MS
release a patch or force them to do sustained engineering
on a product they EOL.

Thank you for response.

Leon
