What format do you save your music in for playing on your palm. I know
most common will be mp3 format and using realplayer to play.

I save in 0GG format.... smaller files than mp3 at the same
sound quality. I rip my cds using AudiGrabber on windows
(excellent freeware that supports ripping to 0GG with one click).
I tranfer the files to my palm either via wifi with SmbMate
(free software that can browse Windows shares) or via the cradle
and Softick CardExport, and then play them with PocketTunes.
Unfortunately, my Tungsten C only has a mono headphone jack...
why it isn't stereo is beyond me. At least AudioGrabber allows me
to make mono rips, thus making even smaller files.

This can also be done easily with Grip. I suspect that the MP3 patent issues
have expired by now, but OGG is still preferable. If only it was more
widely supported...

You can play OGG files with AeroPlayer. The free version of AeroPlayer plays
OGG and you need to pay for MP3 compatibility.

My Tungsten has gone mono as well a few weeks back. The headphones jack
only sends a signal to the right side, but not the left. Poor hardware.

Wow, l did not know Aero was free for OGG. Although I am
relatively happy with PocketTunes I may try out Aero. This may
not be true any longer, but I have read in the past that Aero has
superior EQ / sound quality. *shrug*

I used to be unhappy with PocketTunes sound until I discovered
its "Volume Boost" option buried in the menus. Once I found that,
I stopped using EQ to try and boost the volume, and became (not
surprisingly) satisfied with the sound quality.
