More Information

I am considering a laptop that has this mainboard chipset.
I've looked throught the web and found no reports of problems with it (and linux). However, I have also not found sucess stories...
Anyone has a tough about this that can share?
Thanks
João Clemente

More Information

My desktop K6-2 has an ALi chipset and it has worked fine at various times with SuSE, Caldera, Turbo, Corel (Debian), BSD and Mandrake. There is a FAQ or HOWTO somewhere about linux with notebooks - try to find it and check it out. Specifically need to know that the graphics chip is supported by xFree (and sound support if you need it).

Thanks for your reply.
The graphics from this particular laptop (Aopen 1545) is a geforce2go 200, wich is well supported by the nvidia binary drivers.
The other notebook I'm considering at the moment is the Compaq EVO 800v wich has a Mob. Ati Radeon 7500 (also well supported). It's somewhat more expensive (and heavier), that's the reason I was looking the Aopen 1545.
I'll check the sound support.
Once again, thank you
