I also had the problem with the MN-700 locking up
periodically. Since I'm abroad right now I'm using emule
to download the latest TV-shows - and that is when the
router locks up. I read that other routers have similiar
problems when there are too many simultaneous connections.
Does anyone know what the max. number of connections is
that the MN-700 can handle?

I'm not sure but if you install Windows XP SP2 those problems will be
solved because eMule won't be able to make all the connections that were
crashing your router.

SP2 is installed on the computer - and the router just
crashed again...

I think you should check you system thoroughly with your anti-virus program,
check for parasites and also check for Trojans. If there's nothing there, I
would suggest you check with the support folks for eMule.

Id also recommend doing the virus scan online sine anti-virus software
is the first target of most modern viruses. I personally recommend
http://housecall.antivirus.com as it is a good virus scanner that you
can use for free.

I'd also recommend installing both "Ad-Aware" & "Spybot Search &
Destroy". They do a good job of detecting spyware that could be causing
this issue.

Virus definitions are up to date, no virus found, removed
all spy-ware etc. with Ad-aware.
And why would a virus or spyware lock up the router only
when running e-mule, but not during regular browsing?

Don't know, because we don't support eMule in this newsgroup, Laura. You
would need to check with those folks. All other software on your system
does not affect the router, and eMule does. Guess where the problem is?

I don't trust your installed anti virus software once again. I strongly
urge you to do a free online virus scan because the installed anti virus
software is the first target & many viruses will make it look like it is
still working when it is in fact not functioning.

Hello Laura,

I have got exactly the same problem, after a while the
router locks up, and I can't access the Internet either
from my laptop or my desktop, not even the web admin from
my desktop wich is wired to the router!

This has *nothing* to do with the antivirus nor the
firewall, and apparently (in my case) although the
problems, local traffic would be fine.

My firmware is up-to-date.
