So what, their 'Quantum' II CPU is actually 4 P-M chips? Or are they saying that's simply an available option? if that is so, then it's <i>not</i> 6.8Ghz, but 4x 1.7Ghz processors.

<b>3TB</b>(1TB "RAM", 2TB "Disk" ) of flash-based storage? how much will this thing cost?

That was my first thought when I read <A HREF="http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/09/07/atom_chip_miracle_machine" target="_new">Vulture Central's article</A> on it earlier this morning. I figured this thing was so much bunk and vaporware that it wasn't worth posting at THGC. **ROFL**

I suspect Michael's computers are already selling them.

Oh, and I doubt any available version of windows is going to be especially happy with 1TB of RAM... before anyone says It's theoretically possible, remember windows 95 was supposed to be able to address 3Gb of RAM or something equally stupid... Yet a quick search of these forums will show it has issues with more than 512Mb.

ROFLMFAO! Micheals Computers! I suspect that to do 700,000 points in 3dmark 05?

Especially when the CPU is only four 32-bit 1.7GHz PMs! Without a 64-bit version of Windows, even the theoretical maximum would be 16GB. (4 32-bit procs with 4GB each.) Though I suspect the worst that will happen is that the remaining RAM just won't be accessed.

I couldn't (be bothered to) remember whether there were any 64-bit P-Ms, hence my slightly vague CYA-ish post

I haven't known him long, but Cedrik seems very wise. I'm glad you have such a reliable companion just in case you start going a bit nuts...
