I was wondering what is best way to clean a flat panel LCD monitor? What I mean is I know you're suppose to use a non lint cloth like an eye glass cloth but what "chemical" can you use, regular water, distiller water, monitor cleaner from stores? I had read that you can do an even mixture of distiller water and white vinegar has anyone used that trick?

generally speaking you want to avoid using any harsh chemicals on your screen. definitely nothing with alcohol or ammonia.

you also do not need a special cloth but if you feel safer then go ahead.

i take a regular household paper towel and soak it with water and then wring it out so that it is still damp. i wipe the tv surface, leaving a few droplets on the screen as i wipe it all down, and then wipe off the little moisture left with a dry paper towel.

as long as you dont have any moisture running down the screen or have the towel too wet this works fine. my tv is still scratch free and its 5 years old.

as far as the outer casing of the tv you can clean the bezel and plastic back with any cleaner you want as long as you dont get any on the screen. just remember to not spray directly on it and to use cleaner sparingly so you dont get it dripping inside which could be bad.

for stains or spots from food or gunk i would suggest just gently going over the area with a damp towel without pressing hard. however i advise against getting anything like this on the tv to start with. normally the only thing you need to worry about is dust.
