Hello everyone,
I am sure this has been covered before, but after doing a search I am unable to find much helpful information.

I am currently shopping around for a solid gaming monitor that will last and produce black blacks, white whites and everything in between (best I can get for $325 anyway). I know I want a TN monitor basically for cost reasons, however thats about all I am sure of. I am being pushed towards LED Backlight by a friend but I am unsure whether he is just saying "get new, it's better because it's new" or if he is actually offering up some decent advice. I believe in being energy efficient, but we're probably talking about $50-$100 in annual difference between LED and CCFL.

So I guess to make this a simple question, all in all I am asking whether going for an LED backlight is the best option for me vs. CCFL?

My budget is around $325 and I would like a 24" to 27" monitor. I will mainly use it for things like Youtube and gaming.

Thank you in advance for some clarification.

Low end LEDs are better than low end CCFL. They produce cooler light (blue), are more energy efficient, brighter, and they turn on faster.

Good ccfls are better than good LED (like what they use on IPS), produce a warmer light, and they allow for a slightly large color gamut.

Super highend LED is the best ($3000+ monitors only.)

Cooler light makes the contrast feel better. Warmer lights are better for eye strain.

LED backlight is more prone to backlight bleeding issues around the edges especially since they are all edge lit... well except for the ones meant for graphics professions; those have full array LED backlight. The center of the screen can look darker than the edge of the screen. No technology is perfect...

I think there's a guy on Pirate that is having his buddy overseas ship them to him, so he can sell them. I don't think he's marking them up since he's not pimping a yellow star. Connector / Power Wire LED Controllers LED Power Supplies
