Folding@Home is a LARGE GRID COMPUTING effort. Presently over 1,000,000 computers and over 400,000 people have contributed. Present speed is approximately 200 Teraflops. Completely nonprofit and totally for humanities benefit. Join the team, it's kind of fun. :-D.

Seems other people/sites can claim they have great community spirit. Join us and show the world you have too. It's not everyday you're part of the top 100 teams in the world!!! Soon you'll be able to say you are.

Some things your (future) teammates have done:
1-Click here to read "Folding" as explained by "sjonnie".

2-"Spitfire_X86" created this growing list of cpu benchmarks but "ChipDeath" made pretty colors in the graphics forum.

"priyajeet" started a team to do protein folding for humanities benefit and to have this community recognized. We're team 40051 at http://folding.stanford.edu and we could use a little of your help.

Project Rank: 151 (-2) of 37239. We ARE going to make the top 100 teams in the world just stick together.

Not everyday that you can say you were part of the top 100 in the world. If you participate in our/your team you'll be able to tell everyone you were. (Kids will get a big kick). We're not in the top 100 yet ... but we will be. And you never know if this will lead to some large medical breakthroughs.

!!! Go Team Go !!!

"Molar" has suggest T-Shirts. We've had some interest and lots of people like the idea. If any of you have the inclination you might submit a design. Like the idea of molecules and Toms Logo.

We continue to look for even MORE contest/team ideas :-).

Some people fold clothes .. some people fold proteins (Molars T-shirt idea) ... Do you have a "saying" we can use?

Hey Rugger,

I can sympathize with you. I used to be #2 on the list till some guys got motivated. Hehe..I'm already kinda maxed out on machines. Been thinking of clandestine ways to improve my situation.

Anyway.. everything you've done you can be proud of. No need to hang your head. Walk proud and tall. Maybe you can think of a way to add another machine...if you feel like it.. and maybe not. Doesn't really matter. I'm proud of you and I'm sure lots of others are too.

There is an option to allow large memory users. It will allow you to get memory intensive WUs. They tend to go really quickly on the A64s. Quick (like 300+points/day) is good. Just right click the tray icon, left click configure, click connection, and check the box at the bottom left.

Welcome aboard.

will one gig of memory be sufficient for the mem intensive WUs or will have to put another two 512 dimms in?

and thanks

----------------------------------------------
great minds think alike, fools seldom differ...

More Information

The most I've seen them use is 100mb, so a gig may be overkill.

More Information

i'm being paranoid here, but it runs fine with a few cs source games, but i dont think the new mem intensive WUs will be downloaded untill i finish this one, the game was cripled once (kinda a half crash half slowdown to till unplayable) but never more than expected with my system building skill

More Information

I generally quit folding before I start a game.
If you are doing the big WUs, it becomes more important, as the WU holds onto the memory.

More Information

 Was jsut kidding - i'm happy with my performance to date. Holding off on the new system build for a while longer. I'm talking my bro-in-law into joining the team. He has a 800Mhz PIII, but every bit helps - I'll have to prod some more to make that happen anytime soon...

I definitely want to add as many machines as possible. just have to find them and get the software loaded.

Project Rank: 148 (-3) of 37309. We ARE going to make the top 100 teams in the world just stick together.

Our average has been slipping although we've been adding team members. This is probably due to the molecules available and the points you get for them. Don't despair other teams are getting the same. Also, someone reported spotting those juicy 600 pointers in their queue. Maybe you/we'll get some.

!!! Go Team Go !!!

"Molar" has suggested T-Shirts. We've had some interest and lots of people like the idea. If any of you have the inclination you might submit a design. Like the idea of molecules and Toms Logo.

How about beer "coasters". Anyone have a printer you can do that on? Maybe blank CD's?

We continue to look for even MORE contest/team ideas :-).

Some people fold paper airplanes .. some people fold proteins Be a big kid and do the latter. Do you have a "saying" we can use?
