I just bought a new Zire 31. While looking at the screen with it off I
noticed small patterns of dots across the entire screen. Is this a factory
screen protector or is it supposed to look like this? Can it be removed? I
can use a small razor blade between the screen and possible screen
protector. I want to know for sure before I pull it apart.

There is no factory screen protector.

Those dots are part of the digitizer used to read the pen location on
the screen. They do not come off.
