Hi, I have a Toshiba 40KV701B/40B701 LCD TV, the sound is not good so I have fitted a Philips 3000 series HTS3111 Sound bar by a connection with a SPDFIX Coaxial cable.

This has made an improvement to the sound quality most noticeable in speech.

But I do still have a problem in that the sound output from the sound bar normally has to be at full volume to hear speech
And is still too low when watching older films which seem to be transmitted at a lower volume (apart from adverts)

Can you please check these setting on the TV for me?

From the menu to “Sound” mode do these settings make any difference when using sound out via the SPDFIX Coaxial cable socket?
At the moment I have the settings as:

Equalizer option is set as “Movie” there are also: user – classic – flat – speech .

Sound mode: is set at Duel 11 there are also: duel 1 and stereo.

Avl is “on”.

Dynamic Bass is “on”.

Surround sound is “on”.

Also in the sound out setting for Digital out there are Compressed or PCM, I can find no mention in the manual which would be the best setting to use?

Finally is there any way the sound output level can be raised or boosted please?

I do not wish to play music at loud levels only to be able to hear the sound content of films.

The software on my Toshiba 40KV701B/40B701 LCD TV are:
Software version: V.0.0.9
Software update date 30-6-2011. V.0.3.5A

Thanks for any help,
Mick.
