Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.general (More info?)

This is my first post, and I've already done a search in the forum.

I have quite a few albums of photos that I've taken from
vacations/parties/weddings. I have them all in the "My
Pictures/Digital Camera" folder. I have the events setup as the
subfolders names. I do not like to use Folder Task to set my view
settings, and instead of changing the view settings one by one in each
of the subfolder, is there a fast way so that I can apply the same
folder settings to all my subfolders in "My Pictures/Digital Camera"
without changing other folder's view settings?

Wow, what a first post! You're asking something I've been wondering
about, too - so I'll be watching this for answers :-)

The only way I know of to accomplish this is:
1) Open Windows Explorer
2) Manually change a parent folder to the view you want.
3) Click on "Tools/Folder Options"
4) Click on the "View" tab
5) Click on the "Apply to all folders" button
6) "Ok" out.

From then on, ALL folders in your file structure will have the same
view.

Unfortunately, so will all folders throughout the system - the effect
is not limited to the selected subtree, which is what we're after.

Would applying a template do what you want?

After setting Digital Camera folder to the settings you want:

Back up one level to My Pictures.
Right-click on Digital Camera and select Properties.
On the Customize tab, choose from the drop-down box that says Use this
folder type as a template. You'd probably want Pictures or Photo Album.
Check the box for Also apply this template to all subfolders.

You can choose a picture for the folder or change the icon if you want.
Ok your way out.

I don't know if this is exactly what you want, but worth a try.

This does a great job of changing the view settings of a selected folder (from a list of folders on the system while the script runs) and applies the view settings to all the sub-folders from the one folder.
