i am looking for a very good quality camera that can at least control aperture and shutter speed for a price under $250 for personal use and photography class ~ Any ideas?

can it control aperture?? and thank you! the L120 is the one i was originally looking at :)

also, is it considered a "point and shoot" camera, becuase then that isn't what i am looking for

Everything is point and shoot, if u will set it to auto : )

when i was reading your comment I thought of the L120 because I was researching it for my parents... then someone else suggested it. So i would definitely go with it.
If you want to throw in an extra $200 go with the Canon SX40
