I am looking into buying a window or portable air conditioner to put in my bedroom becuase my house AC will only be able to keep the upstairs cooled to about 82 degrees during the day.
How many BTU's does my air conditioner need to keep a pretty small bedroom at about 75F to 76F? with assistance from the main AC unit already?

In addition to whole house A/C, I have a 6,000 BTU unit in a medium sized bedroom (3 outside walls, 2nd. floor), and a 8,000 BTU EER 12 unit in the master bedroom with 2 outside walls, 2nd. floor.

Make sure that the EER is 12 or better and the Amps is no more than 10. If not, you will not be able to watch TV and run a computer simultaneously.

a 8000 BTU AC will be more than enough for your bedroom.
