You can lower the multiplier to 14x, but to get your P4 to run at 3.5Ghz you'll most likely need more than stock cooling.

First, no you dont have to be at 250 to run 1000mhz, but that depends on the multiplier. Im not sure if you can drop the multiplier to 14 on a dual core but I assume that you can. If you can then you should. At 14 I can get the computer to boot up to 272. If your trying to set a frequency record then running at 1000Mhz or more is fine, but the performance is terrible. More is not always better. If your after performace then you will probably want to run the second or third divider and lower timmings to 4-3-3-8-3 or 3-2-2-6-2 The memory at 1000Mhz boots the best at 5-4-4-9 which you should have known if your would have taken the time to learn more about what you bought.

That PSU is a very good one. Some of the lower wattage TT's dont impress me but the 680W is a good one. In fact, its the same that I have in my system. In fact, we have many of the same components. I have the 3.73 EE CPU.

Use your intended plan and drop multiplier to x14 so you can up the FSB.

I tried to use FSB 250 and memory speed at 1000Mhz with timins 5-4-4-9, but the CPU temp was around 70-75 idle and up to over 91 celcius on load. So I don't think I want to run my CPU that warm....

A good heatsink such as Thermalright SI-120 only cost around $50.

I have a Zalman 7700cu, but maybe Thermalright SI-120 is better? |

Then don't worry about it.

Wusy is correct about running the 14x multiplier. Now all you need to do is get 1000Mhz out of your head. There will be a performance loss at that frequency. Your best Bandwidth will be around DDR2 720 and timings at 3-2-2-6-2 or 4-3-2-6-3
