i have a sony dcrtrv280 camcorder i have recorded alot of stuff on numerous tapes now my camcorder has stopped playing the tapes what can i do to either fix the camcorder or to put the stuff off the tapes onto cds.

To repair a camcorder is cost prohibitive. Try to buy a used one in good condition and transfer all your tapes.

In order to transfer tapes, you will need a "Capture" device to capture and then you can edit unwanted sections, and then burn it on DVDs. I have done this by using an external capture device, Hauppauge HVR-1950. I chose the external device over an internal card because I want the capability to move this device from computer to computer. Here is the link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] hvr%201950

You can also use this device to watch TV on your computer monitor.
