Hello,
I currently have a Dell 30" - it is very nice but I'd like something even better. I realize you can use TV's as widescreens for computers but they don't really perform as well as monitors designed for computers when they are on computers. So this is strictly a question about computer screens designed to be computer screens, no hybrid or TV screen info is needed even if you think it works well as a computer monitor. I'm not trying to be narrow minded but I think this thread might get sidetracked quickly and I really am only interested in computer screens designed to be computer screens.
The new 30" from dell for 2008 offered better contrast but also had issues with consistency throughout the screen. I'm sure they'll have a new model out sometime within the next year.
What I'm ideally looking for is something even larger than 30" but being a computer monitor, not a TV screen acting as a monitor. Anyone aware of any new 30" or larger models coming out soon?

30" is the max size for a PC monitor.

I own a Dell U3011 30" monitor and it is really nice, but I wish I had a larger computer monitor as well; I would like to go 6" wider. Computer monitors have a pixel pitch around .25mm whereas televisions have a pixel pitch around .50mm; So you get a much sharper image using a computer monitor.
and you had to necro a 3 year thread just to tell us this?
keep in mind that televisions have a max resolution of 1920x1080 and that 30" monitors are 2560x1440 or 2560x1600. of course monitors will look sharper.
the technology exists to improve pixel density or to make larger panels but there is no reason for manufacturers to pursue as of yet. perhaps when we start getting 4000k video or other higher resolution format that the masses use we will see even higher resolution monitors. until then manufacturers have no reason to offer us more.
if you are that worried about resolution go look at the 10,000x10,000 pixel 20" wonder they created 5+ years ago. details so small you needed a magnifying glass to see it.
if you want a bigger screen then 30" then either sit closer or multipanel. buy another u3011 and put both in landscape.. double your resolution and double your screen area. however i'm not sure if video cards even support a resolution that high. if they do, good luck trying to run a game a that resolution.
