Can anyone pliz tell me which one is better - Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 SLD Aspherical DC Optical Stabilized (OS) Lens with Hyper Sonic Motor , or ,

the kit lens (18-55m ) that comes with the nikon d5000 dslr?

Generally speaking, Nikon lenses are very well made lenses. Unless you can conduct elaborate testing with both lenses, I would stick with the Nikon lens. I am a die-hard Nikon user. Ignore price differences - go with Nikon!
