More Information

Hello everyone,

I'm upgrading my system and I'm settled on most parts but still not sure on memory.

Specs are as follows: (sorry for caps, copy-pasting)
ASUS K8N-E-DX NF3-250 SK-754 DDR AGP8X
AMD ATHLON64 3000+ 512K SK-754
WD 74GB RAPTOR 10K RPM SATA-150

and keeping my GF4 4800SE Video card.

My first choice for memory is
1GB Kingston HYPERX DDR 400MHZ 2-2-2-5 UTRA LOW LATENCY

Though, there is a problem with it's availability. I've ordered it, received all other parts but the ram. I still have the option to change that order. I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle, and if I should go for normal KHX, or even standard KVR, or Corsair or whatever.

I thank you in advance for the help,

Sirius

It does not hurt to have the quickest RAM available...
I have 2-2-2-5 Corsair RAM myself... :)

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh

But the 2-2-2-5 timings aren't needed. If you're not going to OC you can save some good money by getting the Value series RAM. The Corsair Value Select (1GB) is on sale at Newegg for $97!

Unless you're overclocking there's no need for expensive RAM with such low timings.

BTW those modules too uses the famous Samsung TCCD chips

samsung must have popped out another batch? er hrm...i think i remember memory man saying something about there being a batch available a while back...would be interesting to see what they've done with those modules...if they get better/worse numbers/benches then the other 2 2 2 5 ram out there.

Meh, those Kingston HyperX ULL are still old batches with the old TCCD chips.
It's just that those modules haven't been advertised so pronouced using the Smasung TCCD chips as PDP Patriot PC3200XBLK, Corsair PC3200XL, GeIL UltraX, G.SKILL... did.
