First time poster, long time reader :p

I am looking for a LCD monitor with the following requirements:

  • ~22”
  • Non TN (S-PVA/P-MVA/etc.) … I think
  • Good overall monitor for mostly watching videos and reading text (word documents and web surfing)
  • Non gaming monitor (latency is not an issue)
  • I’m looking for a mid to high range monitor, that is a good value

I am looking at these possible monitors:
1) Lenovo Thinkvision L220X - $500
-1:1 pixel mapping (aspect ratio)
2) Samsung 2493HM Glossy Black - $400
3) Dell Ultrasharp 2208WFP - $
4) ???

What are your top ~2 recommendations/suggestions? Thanks for the help!

I think (not positive) that the Ultrasharp 2208 is a TN.

Realistically though, if I were you, I would go with a Dell 2408 ultrasharp. Amazing color, it's an S-PVA, and it is >1080P, so it can do high definition video too.

All 22" LCD monitors uses TN panels with the exception of the following:

1. Lenovo ThinkVision - ~$450
2. Eizo 22" LCDs for the "pro - consumer" - Can't remember the exact model numbers, but there are a couple of them - $650 - $750 depending on the model.
3. Eizo ColorEdge CG221 - For the graphics pros - $4,000 - $5,000

Generally non-TN panel 24" LCDs starts at $600. The Samsung you selected is TN.

There is no such thing as a stupid question.

It doesn't have to be a non TN panel, I was just looking for something that is good for movies and color.

My standards would dictate a S-PVA or P-MVA panel.
