Ok folks, need some opinions here from experienced OCers. which of these DIMMS has better OC potential?

I am planning on running amd winchester 3200 on DFI Lan party UT NF4 Ultra-D mainboard with Forton Blue Storm 500watt PSU and Sapphire radeon x850xt pci-e gpu. Thanks for the incoming advice

In your very special case it would be OCZ VX modules because you have a DFI mobo that can make full use of it.

I'd love to hear what sort of result you can achieve with those modules!

<font color=red><b>Life just gets better and better, first there was 9800SE->Pro, second 475Mhz on stock VGPU, third there's XT BIOS and now I've vVPU modded it! w00tz!</b></font color=red> <A HREF="http://www.maccrazy.net/9800" target="_new">http://www.maccrazy.net/9800</A>

Interesting, I had been favoring the patrior modules, but something about those OCZs looked nice. I'm new to OCn, so you can be sure I will be asking for help when I do get this rig going

More Information

$249 vs. $235 between Patriot and OCZ VX.

Hmmm... depends on have much you want to save, but I'd personally go for OCZ VX tho it's $14 more expensive.

Yeah I think I will at this point $14 = no big deal

AnandTech did a review of your mobo that may be worth reading. They set an OC record (for them) using OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum Rev. 2 (Samsung TCCD Memory Chips).

It costs a bit more though. New Egg had it this morning but is out now. <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-890&depa=1" target="_new">http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-890&depa=1</A>

Well unfortuneatly I've pushed my budget on this thing to the limit (maybe a lil beyond  ). If <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-890&depa=1" target="_new"> this </A> is the module anandtech tested, hopefully <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?DEPA=0&description=20-227-204&CMP=OTC-pr1c3watch&ATT=System+Memory" target="_new"> this </A> will perform somewhere near as well, although I can't afford that 4000+ cpu; I have to go with the 3200+ winchester instead. Combined with a sapphire ati x850xt (non plat ed), I should be looking pretty good. We'll just have to wait and see. **sigh** Why didn't I have my tax return direct deposited? :frown:

This <A HREF="http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=6&artpage=1115&articID=277" target="_new">review</A> compares all TCCD based modules on MSI K8N Neo2 939.
Tho I believe the mobo crapped out first it shows other TCCD modules can exceed the performance of OCZ PC3200EL Rev2 for a lower price.

Lol damnit!!! Everytime I think I've made up my mind, something like that comes up ARRGHH!! Ok, so in my "special" case, what would <b> YOU </b> recommend??

Oh I didn't intend to change your decision at all acutally! Sorry if I did.

I'd still go with OCZ VX.

Take a long hard look at a Celeron "D" chip rig. At least you'll be sure of what you DON'T want.

Instead of the OCZ 3200 Gold VX you may want to look at <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-843&depa=1" target="_new">OCZ 3700 Gold Edition Rev3</A> which is a bit cheaper. This <A HREF="http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/article.php/3481836" target="_new">Review</A> indicates that the gold may give the best OC while the platinum gives the lowest memory timings.

Quoting from the review "This area is also split, with many buyers wanting the absolute lowest memory timings money can buy, while the other end needing the best in overclocking memory, in order to hit the very highest in CPU speeds."

Don't know if this helps or just confuses things further.

The Hynix DT-D5 chips which OCZ 3700 Gold Edition Rev3 uses are shocking stuff for Athlon64.
They're designed for P4s.

Might want to consider some cheap untested OCZ VX from <A HREF="http://www.atacom.com/program/print_html_new.cgi?cart_id=6087646_130_123_225_69&Pagecode=SEARCH_ALL&Item_code=MEDD_OCZT_AG_C2&USER_ID=www" target="_new">here</A> as Prof133 pointed in another thread.

That sounds like a serious gamble to me, what's the best and worse case scenario if I buy this stuff?
