Ok so I have run into some Diehard people that only buy from New Egg or Tiger Direct. Personally I like New Egg over Tiger b/c the web layout is better and they have better deals it seems. What do you think is better and why?

Good results with both - depends on what you want and the cost.

They usually are comparable on prices but I have to give +1 to TigerDirect for something NewEgg does not have....a storefront.

CompUSA is TigerDirect. If you are one of the lucky ones that still has a local CompUSA (me...thank you very much) you can find that running down to the local store gets you the same savings. They also have a corner dedicated to sales, refurbs, dent & scratch stuff. Excellent savings if you are there at the right time.

Honestly, I live in Hawaii, and both places overcharge shipping like crazy to here ($18.80 for an $4 SDHC card, really?). The fact that they refuse to ship Ground to here really pisses me off (I sell a lot of stuff on eBay and I can ship a 10 lb box for $10 or less). I have to find the unlucky people who post their computer cases on eBay without stipulations about shipping to Hawaii because it saves me $60 from NewEgg or TigerDirect.

Well I just got done with the hardware part of my build and I will have to go with new egg bc shipping was extrememly fast but I can't forget that my local micro center really helpped me also

Anytime I'm looking into a purchase I will read up on it at "Newegg". They have a great site for research including multiple pictures and information matched by no other site. I purchased most of my components from New egg but not all. Its a great place to start comparison shopping. I found my processor cheaper at Micro center and the video card at Directron. Tiger Direct is OK, but like I said Newegg is the best place to start.

I chose Newegg because based on my little experience they worked fine for me and RMA was easy albeit unnecessary but hey everybody makes stupid nooby mistakes onetime or another

Been using newegg for years now, can't even remember. Only used tiger direct once, and it was great also. The only thing I don't like about newegg is they don't work on weekends any more, and there packing is going down hill. I ordered a armor+ pc case from there, and it shipped in the original box not a big brown box, and the box came open, and it actually was coming out of the box when it arrived. Luckily it didn't get damaged. But still, I order almost all of my stuff from newegg.

I personally like NCIX.com. The site layout is easy to follow and they have tons of great deals every week.

Hey Guys,

I actually work for Tiger Direct in the B2B department... I use this forum as a great source of information when helping out my customers.

I use both sites myself as price is always an issue.
Tiger is a great company and they do take care of their employees.

With that said if anyone ever needs something, I am happy to help out.
I have flexiblity on pricing and access to a lot more items that are not listed on the site.

I need to work with the Tom's hardware people to see how I can help with some of the members... I don't want to soliciate on the forum without the proper authorization.

Thanks Tiger ... your welcome to post here anytime.

Please flick a PM to Joe Pishgar who is our community manager just so we have you on our list or company reps.

It is good to have people to answer queries.

Unfortunately as I am in Australia I can't access either of these stores to buy stuff which is a pity as both offer significantly lower prices than local on-line suppliers here.

Here in Australia there are a lot of smaller on-line technical retailers.

Never used tigerdirect before, it takes a bit to get me to add a store to my list, and newegg is at the top of it right now. But anyone who has a rep actively posting on tomshardware deserves a look - and you will get it whenever I order more parts!
