More Information

I have an HP 6130 PC. Over the last several weeks the boot times have been getting increasingly longer, up to 20 or more minutes at times. Thought I may have had a virus, which I did, so I reformatted my HDD, easier than trying to eliminate it. Still taking 15 or so minutes to boot up. I do some research and think that perhaps my mobo is bad, so I replaced it as well. Up to now, I've reformatted my HDD and replaced my mobo and still no luck on the boot times.

I've removed every component from the PC (except the CPU) and added them 1 by 1 and it still is taking forever to boot. I took all 3 GB of memory, my video card, sound card, 2 HDD's and DVD drive out. I checked the memory stick by stick and the HDD's individually. I still have yet to put in the video and sound cards yet.

It takes forever to get into the BIOS set up menu. Now, when I watch the POST screen, the hang is after the memory test. The computer will after 10 or so minutes go through the rest of the POST screens, but I'm pretty sure that something is fubar'd and I'm leaning towards the CPU.

Any ideas would be appreciated and thanks for your time in advance.
