is there a simple way to see where you have left comments or made new threads?

Definitely you can do that. When you're logged in on the top of each page you've got your profile displayed with many icons. Look at the one just after the heart called "flags commands". When clicking on it you'll find what you're looking for.

i see the additional icons you are talking about, now. the odd thing is that i can only see them if i hit reply. like i just did when i could not see them and was going to try and get additional info from you about it.

nevermind. apparently when you are in a thread or section you can not see these additional icons. unless you have it reply. i can see them just fine when i first click into forums.
