Thread : Why you should AVOID optical mice

More Information

Guess what - optical mice don't work on reflective surfaces. I only found out after shelling out $40 for a Logitech optical mouse.

there is no reason to avoid optical mice. you need to do some research before you buy, assemble and install, not blame the prodcuts. i saw in another thread where you ripped amd because you couldnt get the system past the post. and in another, you said you deleted the ntldr in winxp.

i bought some mushkin level II ram for my epox motherboard even tho mushkin is not a brand epox recommends, nor has mushkin tested the ram with my board. and surprise, the system was unstable. am i going to blast epox or mushkin, or tell people to stay away from them? of course not,i cant rip them for human error.

Don't be a tool.

By a $2 POS mouse pad and put the optical mouse on it. If you don't want to even spend that, pretty much any non reflective surface (a piece of paper, a large book, your lap) will work.

Besides, it's not exactly a secret that optical mice don't work on reflective surfaces.

Do you know that a regular match won't work well underwater? Should we slam those too?

That statement is actually pretty close to being common knowledge. But sometimes, people find out things the hard way, unfortunately.

Try getting a decent mousepad for use with the Logitech mouse, like an Everglide Optical Pad with the 4% reactive agent. I've found nothing better to increase tracking accuracy, and the pads are nearly indestructible.

You can afford an optical mouse but can't afford a simple mouse pad? And what are you using your mouse on, a mirror?

I just bought a really nice mouse pad specifically designed for optical mice, but you don't even need them. If your still to cheap to buy a $5 mouse pad, use your pants for crying out loud ;)
