1. First, download Handbrake.
 
2. Install it, run it, and pop the DVD in. Pick the DVD volume. Choose your settings.
 

 
DVD movies' resolution is 720x480, If you create a new preset for iphone in Handbrake and set the video dimensions to 480x320, you can crunch movies down to a much smaller size optimized for the iphone native resolution. Just click on the 'Picture Settings' button to set the target resolution number.

P.S. Please do not rip commerial DVD movies (encrypted and copyrighted materials), it is illegal in USA.

Your P.S. is funny considering that the iPhone is only currently 'offfered' in the US and your example is of 'Kill_Bill_VOL2'.
 
But anywhoo, I would say there's a strong case for Fair Use if you own the DVD and are only watching one copy at a time, btw I recommend not watching two simulcasts as it may ruin your vision or make you super human, and I don't want you to have either.
