I have an old TV and new set top box but I like to use the video casette to tape programmes as well Why cant I get the two to work If I get one working the other does not I have tried everything

I highly doubt it is. But you have the TV, set top box and recorder there to play with the settings and if that is your conclusion, I think I will take it as true.
