Hi, I emailed customer support about getting a refund on games. On my
previous phone (Sanyo 4900) I downloaded classic arcade games: Galaxian,
Ms
Pacman, Tetris, and Space Invaders. My new phone (Sanyo VI 2300) can't
play
these games.

The CS representative said, sure, I can get a refund. He wrote that I
should
just follow these steps to request a refund. (You can request 2
refunds/month).

1. Log on to 'My PCS' by entering your PCS Phone number and password:
http://www.sprintpcs.com
2. Click on 'My Content Manager' hyperlink given on the bottom of the
welcome page;
3. Select the Premium service from the list.
4. Click 'Request a Refund' hyperlink and follow the prompts.

I can do all but the last step -- Request a Refund. There is no such link
on
the page. Is there another page I'm supposed to go to? The CSR who was
very
nice has not responded to my emails?

That same thing happened to me when I setup a new Linux box, and tried
to play Microsoft Flight Simulator (worked fine on my old PC). I'm still
waiting for my refund.

No other page that I'm aware of. Got a few questions for you.

1) Did you recently purchase and download these games to your new phone?
2) If you did, they should show up in your Content Manager, and there should
be a link to get a refund.

If you didn't purchase & download these games to your new phone, then there
should be no games listed, and no need for a refund.

like another poster).

I'm not surprised that I can't play the games, just disappointed. The CSR
never said anything about compatibility; he just said, go to the Content
Manager and click "Request a Refund". So I thought, great! I can still get
credit for my games (I purchased Tetris mid-March, so only 45 months ago).

I guess it does surprise me that the games don't work. Aren't these all
Java
apps that are supposed to run on any platform (w/ a java console). I would
assume that I could buy any phone and use the same apps I had on another
phone -- esp. if they were the same make (2 Sanyo's).

Wow, my apps were only three-years-old. For the record, you can only request
a refund on apps/games that work on your current phone--and yours don't. You
can't see the "request a refund link" because you are not even getting into
the correct page--it won't let you see details on incompatible apps (and
*that's* where the link is). Either spend the $15 to buy the apps again,
re-activate your old phone (which certainly won't guarantee a refund will
actually be approved), or spend another hour talking to a clueless CSR who
may or may not credit your account; or worse, screw-up some other aspect of
your account that is totally unrelated to the problem at hand. Your choice,
Sparky...

The answers can be gleaned from the original post: no and no. He bought
and DL'd the games for a 4900, and now has a different phone; and the
apps won't DL to the new phone. It seems that even if you have a phone
capable of running the apps, if SPCS doesn't think so, you won't be able
to download the app to the new phone. And even if the app still shows in
your Content Manager, you won't be able to get into the "details" page
(and that's where the request a refund link is).

In addition to incompatibility (which I find suspect) I'm pretty sure
this can happen if you purchased an app that, at the time of purchase,
had no expiration date--yet now does. Seems like they want you to buy it
again so it comes with a handy-dandy expiration date (or monthly fee).

In my case, there was a fairly easy quasi-backdoor work-around for the
problem. Guess my memory is going, 'cuz I can't remember that
work-around anymore.

You know what's funny? Or maybe just bizarre? There is a demo of Tetris in
my Sanyo VI 2300. And in the demo there's a link to buy it. But when you
click the link, it says it's not compatible!

And according to the Web site, it seems like the 2300 is so new that only
24
games work on it.

So, then if the answers to my questions are so obvious, why does the OP want
a credit for games that were not added to the content manager and therefore
downloaded to the phone?

As far as I know, SPCS has an expiration date on most, if not all the games
sold off their website.

He wants a credit for games that downloaded and worked on his old phone,
but refuse to download to his new phone. I don't see what is so
complicated about this, but I'll break it down:

1.) He bought some games for his Sanyo 4900. They downloaded just fine,
and worked. They showed up in Content Manager, naturally (both on the
phone, and at sprintpcs.com).

2.) He bought a new phone and wanted to use the games he purchased
previously. He went into Content Manager (on the phone) and attempted to
download the games to his new phone. I have successfully done exactly
this with apps I purchased back in 2002--for my 4900--with two Sanyo
8100s (one broke, and was replaced with another 8100). But when the OP
tries to download the apps to his new 2300 he gets an error message that
states, "This product version is not supported on this device." and of
course the download does not occur. This is exactly what happened to me
when my Sanyon 8100 was replaced with a Sanyo 8200. (Yet the games
actually were compatible.)

3.) He called SPCS and is advised to go into Content Manager (at
sprintpcs.com) where his previously purchased games are happily awaiting
him; assuming they haven't expired. He tried to follow the CSR's vague
instructions, but cannot get to the screen where the "request a refund"
link lives. That's because, just like Content Manager on the phone, you
get an error message when you click on "Details" (the magnifying glass
icon) for a specific game. The error message is exactly the same as I
stated above. Since he's being sent to an error message page he cannot
see the request a refund link.

4.) He posts here for help.


Am I missing something here? Because all that seemed rather clear to me
from the very first post. While I intended to reply in depth, I was
short on time so replied short-and-sarcastically (yea, I can be
sarcastic at times).

That's pure bullshit, Bob. Most games *do not* have an expiration date.
Ironically, that would include Tetris, one of the games specifically
mentioned by the OP (it costs $5.99 and does not expire). Further, none
of the games I purchased back in 2002 (the last time I purchased any
games) came with an expiration date. And you know what? They really are
compatible with my 8200 as I still use them to this day.

postings. Funny thing is that Ms Pacman now has an expiration date. And
Tetris will still not download to my phone (even tho I have a demo). Sigh,
