Heh...
Mine just goes black after the initial screen. I don't think MC2 is
compatible with XP Pro or DX9

But then it would be really great if someone can say otherwise and point
out how to make MC2 work on an XP Pro machine...

well the weird thing is, it was working fine at one time ...
the first time i installed it, everything worked fine ...

but then i needed space, and uninstalled it ...
and now it gives me that problem ...
i suspect it's leaving some files or registry entries somewhere.

those are my thoughts too. for some reason it isn't detecting the video
correctly or isn't putting the info in a config file or the registry.

Too bad really - mech commander 1 was one of my most favorite games
ever. I'd like to give MC2 a try.

I seem to recall that that game has a patch, perhaps it will help?

Same here. I've been running it on a Dell Inspiron 8600 w/ATI Mobility
Radion 9600PRO Turbo 128MB and 512 MB Ram. Never had so much as a
hiccup. Now that I think about it, I seem to remember reading something
from Microsoft that the game was not XP compatable... but I've never
had a problem on this machine... although I've never tried it on any
other.

Unfortunately, No. I installed it on my main home machine (Whitebox
PIII 933 w/1Gb Ram, Nvidia gForce 4xxx 128Mb vid... not really sure
what exact card). It crashes right after the startup screen. I haven't
been able to find a patch for the game.

ive had semi the same experience. the screen be[#00b846][#b80046]fore the one where you choose the type of instalation says directx setup has failed this may cause problems during the installation. Click ok to continue. and i have directx 9 and it only requires 8. ive downloaded mc2 before and it worked fine, then i accidentally deleted it and now ive been trying to install it.
whenever it gets to 6% it syays that whatever file cant be installed and you can ignore retry or abnort. i kept clicking ignore til it got to 13% then it actually installed. i know how to do the patch so i did it and the cd doesnt work. i have xp. mc2 IS xp compatible trust me.
