I'm set to buy a data cable for my Toshiba VM-4050 from 3GCable.com, which
sells it for $23 + $7 S&H. By itself, though, it will only allow me to
connect to the internet. I'd also like to sync it with my PC. I realize that
because this is a new phone there's not a lot of sync software available for
it, but I assume that it will come out in time. My understanding is that
only FutureDial's SnapSync is currently available for this phone, allowing
only contact syncing with Outlook.

Given the sort of software that's come out for older, more established
phones, how likely is it that software will eventually come out for this
phone that will also allow the following to be synced:

1 - Calendar
2 - Pictures
3 - Videos
4 - Ringtones
5 - Voice memos
6 - Apps & games
7 - Messages
8 - Call logs (lawyers would love this)
9 - Anything else?

Also, given the 3G and photo/video capabilities of this phone, is it
technically possible to develop software that would allow one to
videoconference using a PC or laptop? The phone itself wouldn't be able to
do this since the camera faces away from the screen, but with a cable and
the right software, it's conceivable that this could be possible. Has
Sprint, Audiovox (who makes this phone) or anyone else published the
internals of this phone's OS and file system, which would also allow 3rd
parties to develop syncing software?

Bitpim looks on track to do far more than Snap programs.

Glad you could find a data cable.

cellularfactory.com doesn't yet list VM-4050 stuff.

The $7 is an 800% [or is it only 400%?] markup for the few cents of
first class postage.  If you're not in El Lay, your cable will take
days to arrive.

I agree that the S&H is a bit high for a $23 item, but in my experience this
is not uncommon. I needed the cable and this is the cheapest I could find,
and I wasn't about to wait 2 months to save a couple of bucks. Now back
on-topic...
