I'm in the market to buy a new laptop for. In searching, I've only seen one laptop that is lightweight and has the Mobility Radeon 9000 inside it (Apple Powerbook), which is too expensive and is an Apple so I can't get it. I wanted to get a laptop that isn't too bulky and has the Radeon 9000 inside. I was thinking about going with Dell's Inspiron 8200, but I'm not sure after reading reviews and hearing that it’s immense. Please submit any suggestions.

Ok, the Dell I8200 is quite big, but the Sager 8886V is a mammoth in comparison, it is almost DOUBLE the weight of the I8200. If you want thin and light, this is not the way to go.

Wait until after Christmas and Newyears and the prices of notebooks begins to drop, then when nVidia releases the GeForce 4 Go 4200, the Mobility Radeon 9000 will start to be used in smaller, lighter notebooks.

Who's General Failure and why's he reading my disk?

Right now, none of the Mobility Radeon 9000 notebooks are availiable in what I would consider a small form factor.

I am looking purchase a new notbook right now, and I am looking at something like the Dell Latitude C640 or the Samsung P10. Both of them have 32MB Mobility 7500s in them, which isn't my first choice, but I want something that is less to carry than my Dell Latitude C810 which would basically be the same as going with the Inspiron 8200 or the Latitude C820.

I have a Compaq Presario 2810T. Heres the specs:

I've had the thing for about 2 months now and I love it. Weighs 6.5 lbs with the battery and cdrom drive and it can get under 6lb with the weightsaver in it. Battery life is great too. I can get about 3.5 - 4 hours taking lecture notes with the screen dimmed down

the 2800T is the lightest Notebook you will find with the 9000 mobility. Do they still have that irritating restore partition on the HD or is Compaq finally shipping full restore CD's like Dell does?
