Ok, I just want to know what dish to get with this....
the card is comming this WED.

Right now, I have a D*V system with the 18" Rca dish and dual LNB.
Can I use this at all for D*sh and B*v??
If so, what sat to aim it at....
Or, can I get a Diseqc motor and keep this dish and just use this for all
b*v and d*sh?
If not, please recommend a dish for me, and or a dish and motor....

Oh, and JUST to emphasize, I am looking for the FTA unscrambled channels
and MUSIC that d*sh has to offer, so don't spam me with anything illegal.
I have the old D*V system, as it was thrown out, and I found it on the
front lawn for trash pick up.

With an FTA receiver/DVB-PCI card and the dish/lnb combo you've got, you
should be able to aim at 119° and get music channels off Echostar-7. I do. I
live just north of New Orleans, so a larger dish was needed for the music
channels on Nimiq-1 at 91°. Do be sure to set your local oscillator
frequency at 11250, as both these birds are DSS with circular polarity.
You have nothing to explain as far as how you got your equipment, or
your intentions for it's use. Too often innocent curiosity has elicited
charges of theft in this NG as well as others. Those folks ignore the main
motivation of hackers of DTV, or computer systems in general. That
motivation is usually nothing more than bragging rights. Hacking DTV is more
costly and a pain-in-the-ass than it'll ever be worth.

A DirecTV system is not usable with a DishNet signal. The 18" Dish and
LNBF would be usable with DishNet signals on a couple of the stronger
satellites but the receiver is probably useless.

For the many FTA signals on the different FTA-DVB satellites, you would
need a Linear (HV) LNBF and you would need a dish larger than 18", but a
DirecTV receiver would not be able to process the signals. The FREE
DishNet signals on the stronger EchoStar satellites could be handled by
an 18" DirecTV Dish and its Circular (RL) LNBF but you would need an FTA-
DVB receiver to process the signals properly.

Since you would have to buy a standard FTA-DVB receiver to go with the
old DTV dish and LNBF, you may as well buy a larger dish antenna and a
linear lnbf to go with it. There are so very few FREE channels on the
EchoStar satellites to begin with.

I understand that DishNet will begin transmitting some music from Sirius
Satelite Radio soon. I don't know if these channels will be FREE to
receive as the current music channels have been. I also don't know
whether they will continue to transmit all those free music channels like
they have been doing all along.

Of course, there is NASA channel and SkyAngel and a few more channels
that are FREE and in the clear, but a DirecTV receiver cannot handle
DishNet's signals.

I don't know if that was your question, but that is my 2-cents worth.

What I'd do is get a motor an a larger Ku dish and LNBF, and somehow
mount the DBS LNBF to the side of the Ku one, if not leave it fixed on
an 18"dish pointed to your favourite DVB-DBS service.
