I have a DirecTivo R10. Last night I finally got around to "teaching" its remote
control signals to my system wide remote control. Oddly my Pioneer master remote
control could not learn one particular signal from the R10.That function is
Enter/Last at the bottom right of the R10 remote. The learning method is where
you press some buttons and point the 2 remotes at each other. I suppose there is
nothing I can do about this but am wondering if anyone else experienced this
problem.

I love my new R10. But I despise the remote. I keep turning off my tv by
accident when I mean to replay the last 8 seconds.

That aside- when you are doing the head 2 head programming make sure
you have that 'slide switch' set in the proper position. Be it 'TV' or
Tivo.'

I've had that same problem with some remotes, including the Directivos.

Get a metal or plastic washer that fits around the power button. If the
washer has sufficient depth, you'll have to press a little more firmly on
the button to activate it . Then crazy glue the washer in place.

Use a toothpick and apply tiny drops of glue. Avoid getting ANY glue near
the button itself. ;-)

That's a thought. I had honestly been toying with the idea of ripping out
that (tv power) button.

Rather than trying to finger, or thumb, the Instant Replay button directly,
navigate to it from the Pause button. The Pause button is easily identifiable
by touch and Instant Replay is down left from it. When you learn to find
it this way it will be difficult to accidentally press the TV power button.
The gap between Back and Slow leads directly to Instant Replay.

I do the opposite. I generally hit rewind when I'm trying to turn the TV
off... then I start at the TV for a second or two, 'cause I know I know I
saw something happen... I think that's a sign that it's time for bed.

If you have no use for the "tv power" button.. can't you program it for
equipment you don't have. It will then do nothing.
