I have 12XL300A Compaq Presario laptop. It is (2) yrs old, came with Celeron 600 Mhz CPU, 6 GB Toshiba HD, Trident CyberBlade i1 AGP, 320 MB SDRAM PC 100... It also came with integrated Via Apollo PLE 133 chipset. I have D/L the latest 4-in-1 drivers 4.42's...same as 4.43..with 2 WHQ MS sigs. It is time for a new system, running WinXP Home SP1(presently). Am looking for an AMD CPU...either Athlon/XP that would have Via chipset... Reason being, have been a member of their great forum, and they usually update their (drivers) on a regular basis.(Good support). Would like to have either a 32 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 or Ge Force4 Go Nvidia graphics card. Have look @ Dell Inspiron 8200 series..but has P4 with Intel 845 chipset... Have look at Compaq 900 series ....with AMD CPU's but most came with ACER chipsets... Difficult to go to retailer and first find out what MOBO chipset it has? Any ideas of MNF brands with AMD/Via chipset combo.... P.S. Also looked at Toshiba and Fujitsu laptops... Thanks
