Thread : Lite-On vs. Plextor

Ok, so I'm considering a new high-speed CD-RW to replace my now 2 year old 8X4X32 HP CD-RW. I'm looking at the Lite-on 32x12x40 and the Plextor 40x12x40. The Plextor costs quite a bit more than the Lite-On. How much faster is it than the Lite-On? Is the Plextor worth the price difference?

I have read that the DAE of the lite-on surpasses the plextor 40x..lite-on also has a 40x now but from my own experience I don't think burning a disk faster than the 3.5 minutes a 32x offers is worth the extra $$ matter of personal needs and resources which you choose .. I have the lite-on 32x and have been very pleased with it (and it comes with Nero too)

Wow! I just realized that there's also a 40X12X48 Lite-On that's cheaper than the Plextor!

$122 @ Newegg? I'd go for it. I came from the exact same situation as you, and 3 months later, 40x CD writing drives are coming out. Lite-on rocks, and I don't think it'll go wrong anytime soon.
