Would using a wireless/LAN network bridge cause a router to crash?

current setup
main Windows 7 tower has wireless
secondary WinXP tower is connected to main
set up a network bridge
works well

now the problem is on Saturday I set this up
and the wireless connection (using neighbors wireless with their password and permission)
went down for about an hour
when I checked the router status
it showed the WAN wasnt connected
I still had a connection to the WiFi
but it didnt have a connection
now I think that my neighbor might have accidentally turned off their modem or unplugged the router
when I see them today I will ask them

but I was curious was that by having the wireless/LAN network bridge would that affect the router?
I dont think it would but I am not sure

set it up today and everything is fine after a about 4 hours

I have a decent knowledge of home networking but needed a networking pro for this question :)
