I have an HP6653W. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] 313690#N77

I wasn't smart enough to get a computer with wireless built in, so now I need to add a wireless card. I purchased one from walmart (yeah I know gotta get away from Wally world) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wintec-F [...] /15074314.

Then I discover that the only Expansion Slots are;
1 PCI Express x16 slot for graphics card
3 PCI Express x1 slots
1 PCI Express x1 minicard slot

Is there an adapter that will allow me to plug in the wireless card I have into one of the slots available?

Return it and get a pci-e card or a usb wireless adapter.

Thank you. I've been looking all morning, but not a computer whiz, so didn't know what to look for. Any suggestions on a brand. Computer is used for simple home computing and personal website design. Computer located less than 3 feet from moden/router

Sure, an inexpensive usb model like THIS or a pci-e card like THIS should work fine for you. Since you are so close, a USB model would be very easy to connect and will give a good connection.

Thank you for your help. I've got one ordered, will worry about taking the other one back to Wally World the next time I feel like braving the folks there.

I'd also like to note that the link you provided sent me to the cheapest price I could find on it. I always do price comparison and could not find a better deal on a new one.

I rarely find routine prices cheaper than Newegg, except for in store sales at Microcenter.

Just wanted to let you know I received my pci-e card and put it to work. Took longer to open up the computer and pop out the slot plug (not sure of real name) to fit the card into than it took to get the card working.

Of course returning the other card to wally world took longer than everything else combined. I'll be shopping at newegg more often.

Thank you!
