Hello,
I have an HP dv7 6 series laptop with a wifi card that only supports 2.4 mhz. HP says they don't have a card that supports 5 mhz that I can upgrade to. Can I just use a USB 5 mhz adapter to see my dual router. What I mean is can I have both installed on the computer and use one or the other as I choose. Thanks.

This would fit your needs ^ just disable your internal card

How do I disable it and do I have to disable it?

The adapter in the link above will give you both bands. You can disable the internal one in your device manager.

I have an Asus dual band black diamond router that I just got. Do you think the Asus Black Diamond adapter would be better suited?

If it is dual band it should work fine, but brand shouldn't matter.

@area51reopened : Its best to match chipsets and firmware versions if using the advanced features of your adapters. to guarantee that the features will work as different manufactures have different interpretations of the standards.
