I am switching to DSL Internet and the room with the desktop computer does not have a phone jack.

The next room does have the only jack. I am getting the DSL modem from ATT and I have a new Cisco Linksys E1200 wireless router.

My question is this: How will be the most efficient way to connect my desktop computer to the internet and to also have wi-fi service in my home? I do however just want the way that will give me the strongest signal and best service. I am not opposed to stringing telephone line from the next room but just need some expert advice! Thanks so very much!!

From one room to the next, that router will lose little if any of your bandwidth.

Thanks Saga Lout!

I have always had cable internet and the cable is right here in the same room. I'm needing help with connecting to DSL internet. For example, do I run a phone cord from room that has phone jack to computer room and connect DSL modem there? I just need any help at all as to what I need to do. I know my Desktop PC is not wireless ready but I can always install the PCI card if needed. I just do not want to go out and buy loads of equipment because I do not understand how to set up the new service.

Thanks again for any help you can offer!

It should be quite straightforward. I suggest leaving the MODEM and router next to the 'phone outlet, cable on e to the other with the Uplink cable and set up wireless in accordance with our Sticky Post on the subject, choosing a strong security level. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] s-security The instructions the ISP sent out with their MODEM should say whether or not you need login details or whether they're present.

If you don't want to mess around inside the PC, a USB wireless dongle should be adequate.
