Is it better to use wireles or wired? Any speed differences?

Wired gigabit with CAT 5e cables would be the fastest and not subject to anywhere near the interference as wireless. Note that to use gigabit wired all components (network adapters and switches) need to be gigabit capable.

Best is a subjective question though -- wireless is useful for mobile computing, like walking around with a laptop or where cable is not practical or possible.
