Internet Connection/Modem Help

I reset my router because I needed to find my password and this was the recommended way to reset a password. After resetting my router, the router would no longer connect me to the internet. My home network connection was no longer available. I have tried everything I can think of. I am off site right now using the wireless internet of a local spot. What can I do to resolve this problem when I get home. I called my internet provider and they verified that all is working from their end. The appropriate lights are lit on the router.

Since you reset your router, everything is back to the default setting -- look in your manual to get the router default IP address, ID and password. Then log into the configuration pages with a wired connection and set a new wireless passphrase (write it down, as you have found you will need it again).

You may need to power off your modem and router, then after a minute or two, power your modem back up, and then your router. Then you will need to reset your computer to connect to the wireless router connection. Try just restarting the computer once the network is back on, it should find the network and ask for a security ID. If not, post your results and we can troubleshoot from there.

And get a short Ethernet cable so you can do a direct PC to modem connection so you don't have to go out to a hot spot to connect for information.
