Greetings,

I have and find it exceptional.

As you can see I work for Kodak, but honestly believe it is a great
camera and with the long zoom with Image stabilization for improved
image quality at longer zoom ranges and slower shutter speeds. You can
also capture VGA (640 x 480) video at 30 fps movies.

Try visiting the following URL for a full set of details.

http://www.kodak.com/go/p850

In my use, I find the image stabilization feature to yield much better
pictures of action shots, i.e. lower light of evening sporting events,
kids running around, etc. I also use a larger flash (it is a flash shoe
so an external flash can be used). This extends the flash range which
is so important in social and action subjects.

The feel is pretty good still small body but a little more substantial
than the 7590 series. It is and easy carry that does not get in the
way.

The RAW file option also allows for some pretty good editing options -
you get the full exposure information without compression.

Anyway, I suggeset you visit a local store when they arrive and get a
good hands on review as well as the feel of the camera. Like any other
camera, it is the features that once learned will give you the pictures
you want. This camera has it all in my evaluation.

Talk to you soon,

Ron Baird

Seems very comparable to Canon S2.
Can the Kodak take full res. stills while it's recording a movie.
Perhaps that's a common feature? Does anyone care?

Here is a movie I made with the Canon, where I mostly
hung it around my neck as I rode my electric /Zappy/ scooter.

Image stabilization, as it were.

All features of the Canon. 12X Zoom, VGA, 30 fps...

Kodak follows the leader?

Seems there are far less options than the S2 at first glance.

Can you get Gig memory cards. S2 takes them.

Says it supports QT format, which would presume compression
and loooong video recording times. It would be a feature.

The S2 only records in AVI format. (think)

The original ZappyMorn on the camera was 600+ meg.

Trying to play catch-up to the S2, I assume?

Good luck

Greetings Jinn,

I will answer your questions in the order asked.

Seems very comparable to Canon S2.
Can the Kodak take full res. stills while it's recording a movie.
Perhaps that's a common feature? Does anyone care?
***
No, if you are taking movies you cannot take a still picture?

Here is a movie I made with the Canon, where I mostly
hung it around my neck as I rode my electric /Zappy/ scooter.

Image stabilization, as it were.

***
Yes it has image stabilization
***

All features of the Canon. 12X Zoom, VGA, 30 fps... Kodak follows the
leader?

***
Kodak is the leader in digital cameras in the US
***

Can you get Gig memory cards. S2 takes them.
***
Yes, the Kodak will take a 2 gig card
***

Says it supports QT format, which would presume compression and loooong
video recording times. It would be a feature.

***
Yes, Kodak has used the .mov file format for some time now in its
EasyShare cameras.
***

The S2 only records in AVI format. (think) ????

Trying to play catch-up to the S2, I assume?

***
If you can get to a store try a review. No need to catch up.

Talk to you soon, Jinn, let me know if you have any other questions or
if you think I can help?

It's a noisebox. Go to dpreview.com and have a look at the
samples above 80 ISO.

Also, go to the Panasonic forum there and look at what the users posted.

RE: Compression
The specs also list three levels of JPEG compression as well at TIFF and
RAW, all firsts for a Kodak point & Shoot. Now if it were just as small
as my DX6440.....

Of the big prosumers out/going to be out, the ratings (informal)
seem to be:
1. Sony R1
2. Fuji 9000/9500
3. Samsung 815
4. Panasonic FZ30
