My friend is looking to build a gaming rig for around 1200 bucks. I used to be knowledgeable about these sort of things, but being out of the loop since '07 really left me with no clue. Would this be a decent build for his budget?

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop
GPU: EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5
MB: ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX
PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 (CMPSU-750HX) 750W
HD: Western Digital Caviar Green WD7500AARX 750GB IntelliPower SATA 6.0Gb/s
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Can do better. Check the links in my sig.

I'd suggest looking at the $1500 build in my sig. Drop the SSD and get the HD7950 instead of the HD7970 and you should be in the $1250 region, including an OS.
