Low end gaming pc $500 + os and monitor?

Forum Homebuilt Systems : New Build Low end gaming pc $500 + os and monitor?

Word :    Username :

:hello: need a computer for low-end games such as combat arms and such. I am getting my friend to do it for me for $100 so I need it to be around $500, please. Links would be nice, I'd also like the monitor (if you could pick that out too) not to be to high in resolution I don't want to have low FPS. :p
I got people who told me some builds but when I calculated the price $390 + OS = 490 + 100 = 590 + 100 to pay my friend = 690...$90 over budget, then again rebates and everything I guess comes in play, but still rebates weren't to high. Um. If you thave a build suggestion with links^ as I said above that would be awesome. Reason why I don't want to build it myself is because I don't want to break it and or waste time fixing the problem. Thanks, PLEASE ANSWER THE ABOVE QUESTIONS AND can you tell me if your build can run League of Legends on Medium settings at least, I don't expect a low-end rig to play at max settings, lol. Thanks again!! :)

P.S. This means a lot so thanks for answering the questions!:D

Well, unless you want a really old system, you probably cant fit a monitor in that budget with an OS, And with the current price of HDD its even tougher, ill try to set something up

Reply to the_creed4

save 100 dollars and put it together yourself. I am 15 and was able to do it myself (with my dad watching).

Okay, thanks. And, lol, I don't want a really old system. ;D I got the case picked out. I'll take a 250 GB HDD to save money. Honestly I'll go look for a monitor at a thrift store I think, lol. It'll save me a couple of bucks. I'll get the mouse + keyboard from a thrift store to save money. Now I need a GPU, CPU, and a MoBo. I was suggested a g540 as a low-end CPU and a 6790 as a GPU, I don't know, I'd like to see what you've got planned. :)

This is a really tough budget, tough but doable. You could try something like this:

Intel Pentium G630 - $79.99
This is great for gaming, I saw some benchmarks here on Toms which said that in games this can match a quad core FX-4100 at stock settings.

BIOSTAR H61MGC - $49.99
This does the job and is cheap, the reviews look OK too.

Crucial 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM - $18.99
1 x 4GB is actually slightly cheaper and leaves you open to upgrade to 8GB at some point.

HIS Radeon HD 6670 1GB - $64.99
If you're happy with medium settings this card should be OK.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB - $74.99
Hopefully 250GB is enough, this is a relatively fast 7200rpm drive too.

GIGABYTE GZ-F5HEB - $19.99
A pretty cheap and low quality case but this build shouldn't produce much heat so I think you will be OK.

Antec VP-450 450W - $39.99
A PSU is probably the worst place to go cheap so with this your build should be nice and reliable.

Samsung DVD Burner - $16.99
Standard DVD burner for your OS etc.

Acer G245HQABD 23.6" LCD Monitor - $139.99
A nice monitor on a great deal, catch this while you can.

Total - $505.91 before shipping and a $15 rebate

^ really like the build, I don't mind medium settings at all, only thing I would changed is that LCD Monitor since my GPU is low-end I'd like a lower resolution Monitor, Thanks!

Reply to Shell shocke

The resolution is changeable, it's up to you though.

EDIT: If you can find a monitor for $100, you could even free up enough funds for an HD 6770.

I got another option, but it does not include a gpu, it's an apu with an integrated 6400 gpu inside of it.

What would you do a new case (cooler master haf 912) or the R6770?

Reply to Shell shocke

Just got off the line with best buy and they told me they would do certain parts for me no CHARGE!LOL. Cooleio i'll save $100 I guess... :D -- I don't know I'm going to study up on my facts on building and stuff and call Geeksquad was just off the phone with them if they could do bios and stuff and they never mentioned charging, haha, pretty sick if they won't charge. Only thing I'm depressed or scared about is the thermal paste part, air venting, wiring, and the BIOS! any tips on those things? or pacific videos regarding them, Thanks. :)

P.S. Thanks for your reply on the which one. :D

Wouldn't not running two RAM sticks hurt performance since the Mobo is dual channel. I understand the whole "upgrade path" point, just wondering.

Reply to LtDan

Yes, it probably would, but not too much, also it's more expensive (i think :P) to get 2x2gb rather than 1x4gb even though its faster

Can you give me a link for a 2x2 Gb ram stick and tell me the difference between a 2x2 Gb ram stick and a 1x4 Gb ram stick? Thanks.

Reply to Shell shocke

2x2GB will run in dual channel mode which is theoretically faster. The chances are it would make a difference but I don't think it would be a big enough difference for you to actually notice it. The price difference is only around $3 though so it's up to you.

AMD are releasing the HD 7750 and HD 7770 currently, I'd keep an eye on the HD 7750 because performance should be slightly better than the HD 6770 and may be cheaper or the same price.

Also yeah $100 seems a bit steep to me too, I do this for people for free a lot of the time. Sometimes they might buy me some beer or something but I wouldn't charge $100.

Okay, lol, I decided to build it myself (still in the process of that, and buying the parts still) so I save $100 ^_^ when are these AMD's GPUs gonna be released if you know?

^ looks good but you could bump up 2 things for only ~$15 more, upgrade the Pentium G620 to a G680(? I think it's called that I'll look it up to be sure), and upgrade from home premium 32-bit to home premium 64-bit OEM for the same price.

Reply to termhn

If we are bumping the processor, I would spend the $5.00 more and do this combo with the dvd burner:

Intel Pentium G850 Sandy Bridge 2.9GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor bundled with LG DVD Burner - 93.98
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.822380

This G850 is performing very very close to the i3-2100 without the hyperthreading from most of the benchmarks I have seen on them.

And with the Windows7 32bit, he won't be running any more than 4gigs ram, so 32 or 64 bit wont make that much difference. If the ram was to be upgraded than I would say yes, but 4 gigs and 32 bit should be more than fine.

Save yourself 100 bucks and put your pc together yourself. I did that, read a lot and watched all I could find on the matter and my system runs great. 100 extra bucks may get you better hardwear

Reply to DAROBA

I save a bit of cash I can upgrade my processor to an i3 2100 with $509, should I do it? Also I will live if I spend a extra $50 for a cooler master HAF 912 I love it, it' one of my favorite cases and it has great reviews one of the best low-end to mid-end cases there is. :)

Reply to Shell shocke

Whatever you want for the case :) If you're planning on multitasking (recording while gaming, teamspeak, skype, etc.) then going with an i3 would benefit you, because it has 4 threads instead of 2. Also, if you want to do rendering/editing then the i3 will help a lot because they can take advantage of multi-threading.

Reply to termhn

better hardwear = happier gamer. With the i3 you can run more games if you want

Reply to DAROBA

I would probably upgrade the graphics card to an HD 6850 before getting the i3. HD 6850 doesn't actually cost that much more than the HD 6770 but it's a lot better.
