Speedfan does not recognize the cores of my A8-3850. Also, there is a very high (74C) and two very low (7-8C) temperatures monitored.

Any ideas?

I have found that it doesn't see all the cores in my quad core setup either, and it sometimes reports ridiculous temps.

try a different temp program like core temp

Use hwmonitor instead.

I tried every single utility there is out there. CoreTemp, hwmonitor even the one suggested by the M/B manufacturer (Gigabyte Easytunes). Even though they all recognize the A8 and its four cores they can, at best, display a single temperature....
